Today was a windy day on the river! After persistence on the water, we managed to boat trout, walleye, and fallfish. Here are a some photos from the day!
4/11/15 Float Trip
Today was the first nice weather we have seen post Ice out on just about the entire river system. Our friend Len, my father Mike ,of Sweetwater Guide, and I, hit the water in search of trout. We found em'! It took a bit of patience and hard work. We managed to boat and release 4 healthy Brown trout from the West Branch of the Delaware river. With a water temperature rising from 38-45 degrees throughout the day, the fish were moving slowly. Key to hooking up was finesse, and a slow retrieve. Here are some photos of the "happy to see spring" Brown Trout from our day!

First Float of the Year!
The Sweetwater Guides hit the water for the first time of the 2015 season today. Despite the water temperature hovering around 40 degrees, we were able to find a few brown trout. We found healthy brown trout holding in slack water on the West Branch. Here is a photo of our first trout in the net for the season. 1st of many to come, the season has officially begun!
Happy Easter, and Happy Ice out!
As of Easter sunday morning, the ice in Narrowsburg has broken up almost completely, and it is all melting and moving down river. We have a little time before it settles this far down, but given steady temperatures, the upper sections of the river surrounding Hancock should be in good shape by the end of this week at the latest. Here are some pics from April 4th and April 5th.
April 2nd river update!
Below the Cochecton/Damascus bridge was frozen solid yesterday morning, Today it is open with running water for a solid mile. The Ice is breaking up and starting to move, all the tributaries are now flowing brown with snow melt, and a full swing ice out is about to happen. With above freezing temperatures forecasted for the next two nights, we are hoping for a total ice out and flood here by this weekend. Bring on the Spring!
April 1st River Update!
There is little amount of open water to be found above the Lackawaxen/Delaware confluence. However, throughout the day today at the Cochecton/Damascus bridge, we witnessed about 100 new yards of open water. Given the warm temperatures and rain forecast hold true, we should be seeing a lot of ice breaking up and hopefully an "ice out" event in the next few days. Spring is almost here in full swing! We can't wait!
Here are a few photos of the river near Callicoon, NY and Damascus, PA.
Winter/Spring update!
Winter is still hanging around, we're hoping that these steady above freezing temperatures begin the spring thaw of our river valley. The river remains iced up in many places, but the ice out is just around the corner. Here are some photos taken from Narrowsburg, NY taken on 3/16/2015. Email or call Mike and Evan to set up your fishing trip today. Think fishing and we wish everyone tight lines. See you on the river!
